ENTRE MARS I OCEANS
AZKONATOLOZA
About the project:
ENTRE MARS I OCEANS is a live arts project born from an epistolary exchange between four artists living across an ocean from one another: Luis Guenel, Luisa Pardo, Laida Azkona and Txalo Toloza-Fernández. Through a series of letters, the project imagines memories of the future and speculates on other ways of building it, beyond the dystopian narratives that dominate the present.
The letter also becomes a metaphor for slowness, error and uncertainty. Writing, waiting and sharing across distance become acts of resistance against the urgency and speed that shape the way we live and produce.
The first piece in AzkonaToloza’s BOREALIS series, ENTRE MARS I OCEANS crosses three continents, several languages and theatrical traditions, combining documentary research, autofiction and speculative reality in a work that moves between performance lecture, dance, podcast, installation, visual poetry and video creation.
Four people, three continents, two oceans and one sea that, rather than separating them, become a shared territory.
About the company:
Based on Montjuïc mountain in Barcelona, AzkonaToloza is an artistic collective dedicated to creating live arts projects in a wide range of formats. Interested in the possibilities of poetry, visual anthropology, lo-fi video-making, performance and movement, their latest creations explore documentary approaches to live arts. The collective regularly works with artists including musician and composer Rodrigo Rammsy, set designer and stage director Xesca Salvà, choreographer and lighting designer Ana Rovira, and stage director and dramaturg Raquel Cors. NUESTRO REFUGIO GALÁCTICO, premiered in March 2026, is their latest stage work.
