Rainbows invite us to imagine what lies on the other side: blooming oases, buried treasure chests, portals to a world of adventure… Sometimes, it takes very little to spark the flame of imagination, as Un món de catró shows, a giant construction game where the little ones can test their creativity using a material as simple as cardboard boxes.
Alongside the flurry of musical versions in Afònics Anònims (Mar Garcia and Javi Soler) and the concert by Tronco, Un món de cartró invites visitors to experience the most playful, family-friendly side of the TNT Festival. In small groups and thirty-minute sessions, new worlds will emerge from piles of boxes, gradually transforming the architecture and meaning of the space. The dynamic is all about free play, guided by artists from the company, who will help shape the various situations that arise. Because creation never starts from scratch. There will always be traces left by previous groups, which act as hints to find the path toward new terrains, whether that’s a river connecting mountains, a jungle devouring a city, or a giant sleeping on a coral reef.
Anyone who’s ever had to move house knows that cardboard boxes are a promise of transformation. Once everything is packed away, we’ve all felt the temptation to never open those boxes again. Perhaps because, deep down, we know that the container is more seductive than its contents, and that nothing holds the potential to contain anything quite like a cardboard box. If you still don’t know what we mean, ask the cat.
The game proposed by CreaMoviment goes a little further, because it’s not a solitary endeavour, it’s a collective one. Precisely because imagination has no limits, we must learn to share the world that we build: to transform it together, to play together, and also, at some point, to make it vanish. Because, at the end of the day, this is a world made of cardboard.
