ANGELICAL

MARIA JURADO

About the project:

It is a stage-based research project that explores the materiality of the present from a contemporary philosophical perspective. It takes shape as a suspended space, a temporal oasis where performativity, presence, and staging create a landscape in continuous transmutation. The piece is situated at a crossroads where times, conversations, and nostalgias converge, with the aim of questioning the immobility imposed by precarity and the structural alienation of our contemporary condition.

Starting from tenderness as a political and aesthetic gesture, Angelical aligns itself with a current of thought that seeks to reconfigure our relationship with the human through an ethics of care and shared vulnerability. In a context where neoliberalism has turned productivity into a mandate and the future into an irreparable dystopia, this stage work proposes an act of resistance grounded in materiality, the sensory, and a radical attention to the present.

About the creator:

María Jurado is an artist, choreographer, performer, and researcher. Her work moves along the boundaries between conceptual dance and performance. Trained at the Institut del Teatre, in 2022 she premiered her first piece, Black Sun, at the Grec Festival in Barcelona. She has collaborated on the piece Mágica y elástica by Cuqui Jerez, and was selected for the Danceweb 2023 scholarship (ImpulsTanz, Vienna). In 2024, she premiered Spooky—presented at TNT 24—a piece born from the desire to explore creation through a logic of collective action and thought, together with a multidisciplinary team.
