CAU
QUIM BIGAS
About the project:
Cau emerges from a series of workshops led by Quim Bigas, developed since 2020 in different contexts. These encounters opened up a set of practices around the idea of the “bad hiding place,” where an imaginary of what is poorly done, half-done, or visually uncertain was unfolded.
The project explores this idea as a way of approaching the body and its relationships with space: as an action that blurs the perspectives of the body and the way we are used to perceiving it. Within this framework, an imaginary and practical space is opened that allows for rethinking presence and identity from other angles.
About the creator:
Quim Bigas Bassart is an artist working in the fields of choreography, dramaturgy, and informational procedures. His work focuses on projects that aim to unfold a sense of place through the device of dance and choreography. Since 2018, he has been a lecturer in choreography at Den Danske Scenekunstskolen (Copenhagen), and in 2024 he received a grant from the Danish government for the artistic research project Scores in the library: composition and sense-making among books, which will run until 2026.
He has presented works at festivals and institutions such as Mercat de les Flors (DV), Fira Mediterrània, the Osaka World Expo, and the Grec Festival. Other notable works include Hippos, Molar, La lista, and the long-term project APPRAISERS (2011–2017), which has been essential in the development of his choreographic tools. He has been a guest artist in European projects such as Dancing Museums and More than this, and has collaborated with creators including Aina Alegre, Aitana Cordero, Carme Torrent, Ofelia Jarl Ortega, and Marina Mascarell, among others. He also supports creative processes as a dramaturg in works by the Danish Dance Theater.
